Yellow tulips

I've been a bit remiss with my blog recently - here's my latest offering. This oil painting is based on a photograph of some tall-stemmed tulips in my garden, and I was interested in trying to capture the various overlapping facets formed by the petals and the way they caught the light. There's a surprising amount of a lime green in the petals, ranging to a sunny yellow. The neutral background, I hope, makes the petal colours sing.
